Community Calendar

Tell us where the hotdish will be.

Fish fries, craft sales, polka masses, tournaments and benefit suppers. If folks are gathering anywhere from Duluth to Grand Forks, Fargo, Brainerd and St. Cloud, submit an event here and we’ll put it on the calendar.

What to send when you submit an event

The what

The name of the event and a sentence or two about it.

The when

The date, and when it starts and wraps up.

The where

The name of the place and its street address.

The who

A person we can call, plus the ticket price or a link if there is one.

A photo or a poster helps a great deal. A phone photo of the flyer on the church bulletin board works fine.

Send it at least a week ahead. For the monthly paper, get it to us by 5 p.m. the Monday before the first Sunday of the month.

Send your event

Sending an event is free. A real person reads it and adds it to the calendar, usually within two business days.

Members can post their own events and send a writeup to run under their own name in Community Calendar. Membership is $10 a year.

Maximum number of entries exceeded.

What happens next

  1. A person at the paper reads your event, usually the same day.
  2. We add it to the Events Calendar, usually within two business days.
  3. If a detail needs checking, we call the contact you gave us.
  4. Some events also get a story before or after. The newsroom picks those.

Hoping for a bigger crowd? An ad or a Business Spotlight puts your event in front of more people. See how advertising works. A change to an event you already sent goes through Reach the Newsroom.
