Minnesota Nice News is online today. In January it goes on paper, into racks in stores from Duluth to Grand Forks, Fargo, Brainerd, and St. Cloud, where people who never go looking for a website will pick it up. Founding members are what puts it there.

One form, one payment, and you are on the train first. You get a full-color print ad every year for three years, a three-year membership, your name and logo on this page with your own article, a place among the founding members on our home page, half off all other advertising for the three years, and the first copy off the press in the mail.
Founding memberships are non-refundable. Everything you get is spelled out further down this page.
What a founding member is
A founding member is somebody who paid at the beginning, when paying actually changed what happened next.
Most publications get built and then ask for support. This one is asking first, because print costs money before the first copy exists and there is no version of this where the paper appears and the funding follows.
There is one tier and one price. Nobody gets a bigger name, a better spot, or a say in what runs. Fifty people, the same amount, the same listing, in alphabetical order.
What you get
Founding members get on before the paper leaves the station. Your print ad starts in the very first issue, January 2027, and runs every year through 2029.
Three full-color print ads. At today’s rates, that is $528 in print space alone, before the three-year membership, the online advertising, and half off anything else you run.
A full-color eighth-page advertisement in the monthly print edition, once a year, your choice of month, from the first issue in January 2027 through December 2029. Three insertions, one a year. Months are first come, first served. Design is included. If you do not own a business, the space is yours to give to one you like.
Your name and logo on this page, linked to your own article about you or your business. The article is written with you, marked Paid Content, and free for everyone to read. You also get online advertising on the site through 2029, in the format we offer at the time, such as a founding members block on the home page.
Fifty percent off all other advertising with us, in the paper and online, for the three years, January 2027 through December 2029. Run as much or as little as you like.
Every article, the whole archive, back issues of the paper, The Landing every Friday, the Featured stories, the event calendar, and Community Calendar, for three years, through Dec. 31, 2029. No annual charge and nothing else to pay.
Listed alphabetically. No amounts, no ranking, no tiers, because everybody on the list did the same thing.

Founding membership does not buy editorial coverage, influence what we publish, or exempt anybody from how we report. Our editorial standards say so plainly and they apply to founding members the same as anyone.
What the money does
It pays to print. Layout, press time, paper, and getting bundles into stores across the coverage area and beyond it.
Print is the part a website cannot do. There are people in these towns who will never type our name into anything, and there are places where the paper on the counter by the register is how news travels. It changes its look with the season, and people keep it on the kitchen table all month. Fifty founding members is what gets it there.
How to join

- We email you within two business days about your logo, your article and your print month. Pick the month early; the January issue goes to whoever asks first.
- You get the founding member agreement in writing, covering the three years, the advertising, and what happens if an issue is ever missed.
- Your name goes up on this page and the count moves.

Not this year
Two thousand dollars is a real number and most people are not going to write it, which is the point of a founding membership. If it is not yours, there are two other doors and both of them help.
A membership is $10 a year and opens the whole archive, plus The Landing every Friday. If you own a business, an ad in the paper starts at $51. And the paper itself is free on the rack.
