BAXTER, Minn. – September 04, 2026 (Minnesota Nice News)
Labor Day carries a 69% chance of thunderstorms, the only real rain in a week that otherwise stays open and mild.
Everything ahead of it is the kind of stretch people move up here for.

Today and the weekend. Friday runs 61 to 73 under partly cloudy skies, wind out of the east northeast at 5 mph, and a 2% chance of rain, which is another way of saying no. Saturday clouds up in the morning and clears by afternoon, 60 to 78, southeast at 7 mph. Sunday holds cloudy at 64 to 77, southeast at 8 mph. Warm, and still enough that the water lies flat most of the day.
Then Labor Day, which is Monday. Thunderstorms, 69%, 65 to 74, and the wind swings to 14 mph out of the south southeast. That is the highest rain chance and the strongest wind of the week landing on the one day everybody planned something outside. If your Labor Day involves a grill, a boat, or a folding table, have an indoor version of it ready.
Tuesday clears it out. Storms hang on through the morning at 36%, then the afternoon opens up to 79 off a 56-degree low. That 23-degree swing is the front going by.
Wednesday through Friday is the payoff. Partly cloudy all three days, 7% rain Wednesday and Thursday, highs from 72 to 76, lows in the mid-50s. Wednesday brings 15 mph out of the west northwest, which will put a chop on the big water and take the bugs with it.
If you are heading out. The warm, still days through Sunday are the ones to be on the water early. Monday is a day for watching the sky instead of the rod tip. Wednesday’s west wind is the kind you can work if you have somewhere to tuck in out of it.
Nights run from the mid-50s to the mid-60s all week. Nothing here calls for a jacket, but you will want a sweatshirt after dark once Wednesday comes around.
